Leiria was the starting point for the Road Show

With the “PT Closer to you” concept, Portugal Telecom’s national road show began. This event had the personal involvement of the Executive Committee and all of the companies within the Group. Isabel Damasceno, Chairwoman of the Leiria Town Council also accompanied closely this project.

The city of Leiria was the first stop for Portugal Telecom’s national Road Show. The objective of this project is to bring clients and employees closer together.

Miguel Horta e Costa, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Group explained that “management has spent too much time in Lisbon. For this reason, we decided to go in search of the real country and get closer to the client which demands even more quality. We also want to get closer to the employees which are part of this big family which is Portugal Telecom”.

During a meting which counted on the help of co-operators from the district of Leiria, Miguel Horta e Costa stated that “we have many reasons to be proud of our Group, seeing as we are an example, not only in Portugal but around the world. We are a Group of excellence both because of the employees that we have and because of the results that we achieve as well as the services that we offer”.
Client focus was the main message of this visit. “Miguel Horta e Costa stated that “the client must always gain more of our attention, we should motivate and attract them”. Working conditions were also analysed and the Executive Chairman highlighted the importance of rewarding the merit and effort of all our employees as he referred to the new assessment system.
From Four to Forty

Within this event, a visit to a PT store in Leiria was also included where prizes were awarded to the longest standing client to the most recent as well as the best sales person.
Maria de Lurdes Carvalho, aged 78 and a client of PT fixed network for more than forty years. This client calls mainly her granddaughter who studies in Lisbon and her son who lives in Peniche. Her last invoice was of 88 euros. She has never made a complaint and now with her new Fujitsu Enjoy, she can travel around the house while speaking on the telephone.

Paula Vieira, aged 39 and PT’s most recent client having signed up four days ago to broadband internet through ADSL. For this client, the PT Group’s image is summed up in one word, “Excellence”.
Rui Carreira was the best sales person. The secret to his success is the Group’s secret to success and of all employees within the store. The client is the centre of all attention and is also seen as a potential buyer “they come into the store to pay their phone bill and leave here with a new price plan”.

Tiago Ruivo, aged 21 was also given a prize through a passtime on the 94 FM radio station. The image which he has of PT is of “a big and futuristic company”.
The morning ended with a workshop on the evolution in business and telecommunication networks in which Miguel Horta e Costa, Zeinal Bava, Graça Bau, Gomes de Azevedo and approximately 260 other employees of PT took part.
