After the success of Mo1, the first mobile phone for children, TMN and Imaginarium have once again joined forces in a new launch. Cam1, a multimedia terminal adapted for children, combines digital camera, mobile phone and MP3 reader, in a single device
Imaginarium and TMN have extended their range of products with the launch of Cam1. This is the second mobile phone aimed at children in Portugal and it is an innovative communication solution adapted to the lifestyles of 21st century families.
After the launch of the first mobile phone for children – Mo1 – in November 2007, new Cam1 is presented as a new telecommunications proposition and was especially conceived to fulfil the needs of both children and their families.
Cam1 was developed by Imaginarium to assign a new dimension to family relationships, in accordance with the environment where they live. This is the first product created specifically for children that takes photos and sends them via an MMS message, allowing kids to share important moments with their grandparents, parents and friends.
The new multimedia terminal combines several functionalities: digital 1.3 megapixel VGA camera with a 1.8” display and expandable internal memory through a Transflash removable card; it is an adapted mobile phone as called numbers are pre-defined by parents (thus assuring the child’s security and allowing parental control); and also an mp3 reader, with an audio-book and download capacity for audio content via USB.
As a children’s specialist, Imaginarium has defined Cam1’s functionalities from a pedagogical viewpoint. The phone agenda is easily configurable by parents so that SMS and MMS messages are sent and calls are made to numbers chosen by them. Besides, the device has a simple and intuitive interface, with a small number of keys, taking into consideration the kids’ capabilities.
Just like the first mobile phone Mo1, new Cam1 is associated to the Pako price plan, without obligatory top-ups and offering a bonus for received calls, ensuring that the kid is always contactable, irrespective of the balance available on the mobile phone.
Up to the end of June 2009, customers who purchase an Imaginarium Mo1 or Cam1 – available in Imaginarium shops in Portugal or TMN retail outlets for 109.90 Euro – may receive a monthly allowance of 2.5 Euro, for the duration of 6 months. They just need to fill in a form on TMN’s site, with the child’s data as well as their own.
