Thursday, April 24, 2008
TMN has just celebrated the delivery of laptop number 3,500 in Madeira, in the scope of the e-escola program. In the ceremony, there were representatives present from the Government and from TMN. On the whole, PT’s mobile operator has already delivered more than to 130,000 laptops and broadband accesses
10 months past the e-escola presentation by the Government, TMN delivers laptop computer number 3,500 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The ceremony counted on the presence of Paulo Campos, Associate Secretary of State of Public Works and Communications, Francisco Fernandes, Regional Secretary of Education and Culture, and José Carlos Baldino, Director of TMN.
For TMN, the computer delivery ceremony occurred in Madeira today represents the strong adhesion and desire that this region demonstrates in the domain of the information and communication technologies. Simultaneously, the leadership position assumed by the biggest Portuguese mobile operator in the e-escola program is thus reinforced, in the scope of which it has already delivered, up to now, more than 130,000 laptops and broadband accesses.
TMN congratulates itself for being able to participate directly and with increased enthusiasm in what is, more than a duty, the obligation to help fight digital illiteracy in Portugal.
MTV has also associated itself with the TMN e-escola program. The Power On van is going to cover the whole country in order to “take the schools by assault and to offer, without mercy, tens of laptops with mobile broadband to the students”. After registering with the e-escola program, and provided they are already waiting for a laptop PC, those interested need only register with Power On at http://www.mtv.pt/poweron/, so that MTV may proceed with the delivery of the laptop. Watch here the reportage documenting one of the deliveries.
The e-escola program The e-escola program, presented by the Government in June of 2007, is an initiative that seeks to massify the broadband access as it allows registered students, teachers and workers being trained in the scope of the New Opportunities program to acquire a laptop computer with broadband Internet access at prices considerably lower: € 150.
This project, also sponsored by the PT Group, has three axes: e-escola, meant for students in the 10th school year (for the next three years); e-professor, for teachers of basic and secondary education; e-oportunidades, for workers being trained in the scope of the New Opportunities program. The Government expects to expand this program in other directions soon.
See you soon!
