Over one million films viewed on Meo

Since the beginning of 2008, over one million titles have already been seen through the Meo Videoclub: a success that is the result of the quality of the content delivered by PT’s service. With over 1,500 titles, Meo has consolidated its offer with new titles from two other Hollywood majors – Universal and Paramount – which will join those already supplied by Disney and Warner

Cinema hits such as Hulk and Iron Men, premiered recently in Portugal, are already available from PT’s television service. With over 1,500 titles, Meo has consolidated its Videoclub offer with new titles from other two Hollywood majors – Universal and Paramount – joining those already provided by Disney and Warner and that represent on the whole, circa 60% of the American cinema industry.

During October, the following titles will be made available:

  • No country for old men (Este país não é para velhos)
  • Definitely, Maybe (Para sempre, talvez)
  • The 40 year old virgin (Virgem aos 40 anos)
  • 8 Mile (8 Mile)
  • Dawn of the dead (O regresso dos mortos)
  • Cloverfield (Nome de Código: Cloverfield)
  • The Kite Runner (O Menino de Cabul)
  • Into the Wild (O lado selvagem)
  • How She Moves (Como ela Dança)

Apart from Hollywood titles, Meo customers can view films from several independent studios, documentaries, children’s programs, comedy and sports, as well as transversal content from Sapo Videos.

As the result of a partnership with SIC and RTP, the Meo Videoclub also delivers an innovative service that allows cost-free rental of some programs broadcast by these channels, which spectators were unable to see. The new program of “Gato Fedorento” comedians, “Grande Reportagem”, “Fama Show”, “Expresso da Meia-Noite”, from SIC, or “Escolhas de Marcelo”, “Notas Soltas”, “Liga dos Últimos” and “Grande Entrevista” from RTP are just a few examples.

High Definition is also an option available from PT’s service, on films from the major cinema studios, but also on different types of content for more specific market segments, such as documentaries.

The Videoclub is one of Meo’s innovative services, providing customers with a real movie rental service without the need of leaving the house or monthly top-ups. When the rental is concluded, the movie can be viewed immediately and remains available for a 24-hour period.
