Vivo, a Brazilian mobile operator jointly owned by Portugal Telecom and Telefónica, topped 50 million customers in November. According to ANATEL, the Brazilian telecoms regulator, Vivo now has 50.2 million accesses.
In October at Futurecom, Zeinal Bava recollected Vivo’s goal of attaining 50 million customers until year end, but the goal was anticipated by one month. At the time, PT’s chief executive said “Vivo has a clear strategy to grow and maintain the leadership”, which is consolidated once again by reaching this mark.
Vivo is market leader in Brazil, with a 29.57 percent market share, followed by Claro and by TIM.
To mark this goal, Vivo promoted a cultural contest at the Vivo Blog offering Vivo 16GB 3G iPhones.
