TMN Mobile Broadband goes faster
Thursday, January 29, 2009
TMN continues to bet on the continuous improvement in the quality of service delivered to its customers in terms of mobile internet access. In order to be able to provide them with higher connection speeds, PT’s mobile operator will launch an HSPA+ mobile broadband pilot @ 21 Mbps, early in February

As of February, TMN will launch in urban environment, in association with Ericsson, a mobile broadband pilot at speeds of 21 Mbps. This is the first worldwide mobile internet pilot with new technology HSPA+ (High-Speed Packet Access), characterised by the most recent 64 QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) modulation techniques.

This new form of Internet connection will allow surfing with full mobility, at speeds up to 21 Mbps, surpassing the 7.2 Mbps maximum throughputs attained so far.

With this pilot, based on edge technologies, TMN enables its customers to obtain the best conditions to read their emails, read the news, watch videos, upload photos, among other tasks, as fast as possible in mobile internet access.

After the conclusion of the pilot, TMN expects to commercialise the new speeds still during the current year in a few areas of the country. The access to these new speeds implies the acquisition of new mobile broadband boards, more advanced than the current ones.
