The latest member of the TMN Dream Team returned to Portugal yesterday, after having concluded the Transat 6,50 ocean race. The skipper was welcomed at Lisbon airport by Luís Avelar, Board Member of PT and by innumerous fans.
Last May, TMN included another young man in its Dream Team. PT’s mobile operator consolidated its strategy in terms of sports and extended its support to Sailing, a discipline in which Francisco Lobato has already given good account of his skills by winning the Charente Maritime-Bahia/Transat 6,50 ocean race from France to Brazil.
Back in Portugal, Francisco Lobato thanked everyone for the support received, especially from his sponsors, among which is TMN. The skipper will receive the title of winner of the event in the ‘series boats’ category (classification of both legs) at the final Awards Ceremony of the Transat 2009 in December at the Paris Nautical Show. Francisco Lobato will stand on the podium as the winner of this mythical race after having crossed the finish line in Funchal first, 22 hours in advance of the second one in the rank, and arrived in second in the second leg of the race that ended in Bahia.
The TMN Dream Team will keep incorporating young promises of national sport, now having another victory of one of its elements to celebrate. Francisco Lobato is a conceited skipper who became part of the solid TMN-sponsored team of young Portuguese sportspeople last May.
TMN Dream Team
The TMN Dream Team was presented by the mobile operator in April 2008. It is composed of young high-potential athletes recognised at international level. It currently counts on athletes from five different disciplines. Apart from Francisco Lobato in Sailing, Tiago Pires (Surf), Michelle Brito (Tennis), Bernardo Sousa and Armindo Araújo (Car racing), Hélder Rodrigues and Ruben Faria (Motorbikes) are also part of this team. Each one in his or her discipline is the living proof of how motivation, will strength and perseverance pay.
