The most famous T2 in Bairro Alto quarter in Lisbon will finally open its doors. New characters. Loves and quarrels. Fascinating stories. All this and much more in the second season of ‘T2 for 3 Remodelled’. The daily broadcasts will continue on Sapo, but RTP will also broadcast this series weekly, as of February

Alexandre Silva, Cláudia Costa,
André Gonçalves and Ana Varela

Three young people in an apartment. Two girls and a boy. Diana is trying to get a post-graduation stage as a lawyer. Gonçalo, the ex-boy-friend, will remain a constant presence in Clara’s life, a fact that will not make Leo’s life easier, as he is going to fall in love… The action will take place between the new Bairro Alto apartment in Lisbon, the record shop, the students’ association, the bar or library of Lusófona University. Parents, a real estate agent, a personal trainer are just a few characters crossing the life of the protagonists. Humour will also be present, ensured by Frito and by Tozé. Adventures and misfortunes of ‘T2 for 3 Remodelled’.

Therefore, there will be new stories to tell. But André Gonçalves (Leo), Ana Varela (Clara) and Andreia Santos (Diana) will be the new protagonists of new daily adventures, this time not only on Sapo (at http://t2para3.sapo.pt). RTP will also broadcast this series on a weekly basis.

Abílio Martins,
Board member, PT

José Fragoso, Director of
Programs, RTP

At the press conference that launched the series, Abílio Martins, Board Member, PT, went back two years in time to recollect the first exclusive production for the Internet. “The incorrigible” was the first success. But the bet on the production of exclusive content for the Internet went on.

‘T2 for 3’ jumps now onto television, after a consolidated success story. According to PT’s Board Member, the five million viewers of the first series stimulated RTP to join the project.

José Fragoso, Director of Programs, RTP, underlined the emergence of a new market trend, not to be missed by the public channel. He added that the partnership between different types of media will allow, on the one hand, raising the level of demand and production of this series. On the other hand, this Portuguese story will gain a new degree of visibility.

On Sapo, daily transmissions will start on 16 February, 110 5-minute episodes altogether. On RTP, the series will be aired weekly on Sundays around 12 AM in 25-minute episodes.

And because success initiatives must be continued, Abílio Martins announced the production of a new series “The Ten”, directed by Leonel Vieira.

A premiere also in terms of music

Claúdia will voice the  generic music theme

But premieres are not confined to actors. Trying to get a role as protagonist, Cláudia participated at the casting sessions organised by beActive, responsible for the production. The dream of becoming an actress did not come true, but her vocal talent opened other doors for her.

She was chosen as singer of the generic music theme plus four additional songs in the series. Having her music career as a priority, Claudia managed to get, through music, a role in the new series, playing the person that she really is.

Musical production is the responsibility of Nuno Carvalho, previously associated with NZ Productions and responsible for the launch of national pop artists such as D’ZRT, Anjos, Excesso, among others.

A success abroad

Five million spectators saw the first series, with 130 episodes altogether. Success extended to the young actors. Maria Botelho Moniz (Paty) is an example of that, launched onto the television world through this series.

But the phenomenon was not confined to Portugal. ‘T2 for3’ received an honourable mention at the C21 Media Format Awards, promoted by British magazine C21, a competition that took place in Cannes last October, as part of MIPCOM 2008 event. The series has also been recently sold to Greece, Italy, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

Meeting the characters

Ana Varela plays the role of calm Clara

Clara is a calm girl. She likes photography. She still believes that love is for ever and that ‘happily ever after’ is an indisputable reality. In spite of this conviction, Clara is a shy girl. She grew up forcibly, but she remains an incorrigible dreamer! But, in real life, Clara is Ana Varela, an Economy student. For the first time on television, the young actress is also sharing a T4 with fellow students.

André Gonçalves shares the taste
for music of the character that he plays

Leo is the ‘let it be guy’. He does not care much about rules or impositions from others. He does as he pleases. He studies philosophy and hates people who do not make a minimum effort to use their brains. He loves music, just like André Gonçalves, the young man who will play this character. He will premiere in this series as an actor, after having participated in several advertising campaigns.

Diana is a determined girl. She knows what she wants and she has no fear of facing every obstacle to reach her ends. Even if she has to sell her soul to the devil to face these

Actor Alexandre Silva also has a role in the series

obstacles! She will not let anyone into her territory and she will play dirty with an angel face, as often as necessary! This character is played by Andreia Santos, an acting enthusiast since very early. She played a small role in soap opera ‘Love Spell’ (Feitiço de Amor), but she got her first role as protagonist with ‘T2 for 3 Remodelled’.

Although the new season continues to reveal new actors, highlight will still go to renowned TV personalities and actors such as Joaquim Nicolau, Cristina Cavalinhos, Cleia Almeida, Luísa Castel-Branco, Carla Matadinho and Alexandre Silva.
