It is possible as of now to have all the functionalities of a traditional Meo remote on a mobile phone or a tablet.

PT innovates in the television experience, contributing to an evolution that is associated with the end of traditional remotes, said Zeinal Bava | In order to benefit from this new solution, you just need to install the new applications available cost-free at the Apple App Store and Android Marketplace, connect to the WiFi network of your MeoBox and select the box that you wish to control.

- Select the MeoBox icon at the Options menu;

Meo customers will be be able to access to all traditional functionalities of the Meo Remote through mobile phones or tablets. Zapping, volume control, navigation keys, recording, Videoclub access, fast forward, rewind, TV pause, among others – all this is a couple of keystrokes away. The demonstration was made by Bernardo Cardoso from PT Inovação.

But this new experience does not have only the functionalities of a TV remote. It also works as a companion device. Why? Because it enables customers to access information directly from the remote device, consult the TV Guide, Interactive Meo, defining and accessing Favourites. Celso Martinho, technology director of Sapo, demonstrated these latter as well as other functionalities such as program search directly on the device as well as on the TV set through the keyboard of the device.
PT’s chief executive spoke about the investment in innovation, assumed at PT as a structural competitive advantage, which is leveraged in the work executed, for two months, by PT Inovação and SAPO, teams congratulated by Zeinal Bava.
With Meo Remote, each customer will have a more tailored television experience, quick, simple and intuitive, at the same time convenient and interactive. According to Zeinal Bava, the differentiation of Meo service will be based on this facility, now and in the future.
This evolution consolidates a trend always present in PT’s television service as it is able to surprise its customers, by innovating in terms of functionality. Recent examples are the interactivity functionalities of Meo Games, Music Box, Meo’s interactivity functionalities associated with ‘Idols’ TV show of SIC channel – with 500,000 accesses nowadays – or TVI’s SecretStory – with more than 2.5 million accesses.
