The numbers are quite clear: PT increased its market share in terms of fixed broadband, in terms of traffic in fixed accesses and reinforced its leadership in mobile broadband as well.
Over the second quarter of 2010, the customer base grew by 32,000 customers in fixed broadband, which means a 45.5 percent market share i.e. a 2.7 p.p. growth y.o.y.
According to ANACOM’s report, internet traffic continued to grow either through wireline or wireless accesses. The most significant growth occurred in wireline, where most new subscribers opted for optical fibre-based offers. In the second quarter of 2010, internet access via optical fibre grew by 44 percent as compared to the first quarter. It is worth recollecting that PT has already covered one million homes with optical fibre.
As to wireline traffic, PT holds the main market share, 43.4 percent. These numbers show an 11 p.p. growth y.o.y.
PT’s leadership in mobile broadband is also stronger, as TMN posted a customer market share over 50 percent.
