With this recognition, PT becomes the only Portuguese company, which is present in the most important sustainability indices in the world: Dow Jones Sustainability Index and FTSE4Good.
PT’s sustainability and social responsibility strategy and practices (in the ethics, environment and social responsibility domains) have deserved the recognition of analysts of the Jones Sustainability Index (SAM) so that PT entered this year the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index in the telecommunications sector. Its presence in this index consolidates and honours PT’s strategy, policies and sustainable performance.
This integration places PT among 11 companies worldwide with the best sustainability practices, namely British Telecom, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, KT (South Korea), Royal KPN, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor and Vodafone. This is the recognition of the path that Portugal Telecom has been following throughout these years in terms of business sustainability in the environmental, ethical and social domain.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is one of the most conceited indices worldwide, analysing the performance of companies listed in the New York Stock Exchange in terms of sustainability, being considered a reference for both analysts and investors.
Company sustainability is part of PT’s strategy in its different aspects, economic, social and environmental. Together with the goals of reaching 100 million customers; of generating two thirds of the revenues overseas; of being the leader in all segments and geographies, and of being in the first quarter in terms of shareholder return and in operational as well as financial results; to be a reference in the sector in terms of sustainability is one of PT’s 5 strategic goals, which was reached now. Portugal Telecom is indisputably today a world reference in this area.
With this selection, Portugal Telecom’s sustainability strategy is recognized by two of the most important world indices, as it is part of FTSE4GOOD since 2005.
