As of now it will be much easier for TMN customers to tell where they are, thanks to the new SMS Location service that enables a user to find his/her location on a map and add such information to a text message, email or social networks, promoting the sharing between friends of the locations and respective points of interest where each one is at each moment. The service now launched consolidates TMN’s offering in terms of solutions meant for interaction between users.
Focused on the provision of solutions that make it easier and favour the contact between its customers, TMN launches SMS Location, a service that enables a user to find his/her location on a map and add that location to a text message, email or social networks, promoting the sharing among friends of the locations and respective points of interest where each one is at each moment.
SMS Location is the result of a partnership with Wizi, a Portuguese start-up specialised in smartphone applications and consolidates the solutions for interaction among users in TMN’s offering.
To share the respective location with their contacts, TMN customers just need to send a text message that will reach the contact as a map indicating the location where they are (the recipient of these messages do not need to have the SMS Location application). At a birthday dinner for example, TMN customers may send a text message to their guests to mark the location of the restaurant.
SMS Location also ensures an extended set of tasks:
- To share the location by SMS, email or via Facebook;
- To search locations given a specific address;
- To store locations for later sharing;
- To change the viewing mode of maps (map, satellite);
- To send SMS messages with pre-defined texts (editable) associated with location;
- To add an address, coordinates or a photo to the SMS message;
- To access live location (functionality integrated with Google Street View, enabling to follow the path of the user).
To access SMS Location, it is just necessary to download the respective application by sending a cost-free text message to number 12102 or access directly TMN’s App Store at www.tmn.pt. Once the application is downloaded, TMN’s customers gain a new icon on the main menu of their mobile phone for direct access to the service. SMS Location is at this launch phase fully compatible with the BlackBerry, Android, Windows Mobile and iPhone mobile platforms, being ready for a later compatibility with other platforms.
By launching SMS Location, TMN extends and diversifies its service offering oriented towards bringing its customers closer together, enabling to multiply contact channels between people through innovative solutions.
