TMN Talks & Zooms, special solutions towards info-inclusion
Tuesday, February 09, 2010
TMN just launched an innovative solution whose aim is to improve the quality of life of citizens with visual impairments, the TMN Talk & Zooms.

In the scope of its social responsibility strategy to promote info-inclusion, TMN jut launched an innovative solution whose aim is to improve the quality of life of citizens with visual impairments. The TMN Talks & Zooms gives voice to the written content on the mobile display. The Talks component converts all information into sounds by means of a voice synthesiser, and the Zooms part enables augmenting the display information, thus affording an easy reading.

With the Talks feature, for blind customers/beneficiaries, a voice synthesiser called Joana or Madalena in Portuguese is selected first of all. The listened instructions/options must be followed and selected which allow the access to the menus, the contact list, phonebook, calculator, among other tasks just like in any other mobile phone.

On the other hand, the Zooms feature, which is for amblyopic customers/beneficiaries, augments the information of the mobile display, giving for example the impression of an expanded mobile display, with more legible content.

This solution can be acquired at any PT/TMN shop. Customers with a visual impairment are entitled to receive a TMN Talks & Zooms cost-free, if they present an official document proving their impairment and if they acquire at that moment a new TMN device or a TMN SIM. This solution will cost €259.90 for other customers and comprises a TMN Talks & Zooms CD, a user’s manual, a Braille manual, with the main instructions of the TMN Talks & Zooms) and information on the installation and registration procedures.

The TMN Talks & Zooms is compatible with a wide range of Nokia mobiles or with models equipped with the Symbian 60, 3rd Edition Operating System. Its licence is associated with the user’s TMN SIM, which guarantees more flexibility when changing the device.
