Meo and Produções Fictícias producer launch new channel
Monday, February 01, 2010
Meo and Produções Fictícias producer are about to launch an exclusive channel, a bet to disrupt the traditional TV format.

The new channel, being produced and directed by Fictitious Productions producer, will be different about everything. It will be innovative by breaking with the traditional TV format; it will have a strong on-demand component with a special focus on prime time broadcasts. There will be original contents in Portuguese, not only restricted to humour.

MEO changes once again the television experience of the Portuguese, with content which is a break with regard to the more common offers, a symbolic bet of support and incentive to the production of national content.

This is a continuous strategy that comes up as the follow-up of the recent support for SIC K channel, a MEO exclusive, and the availability of the Filipe La Feria musicals at the Meo VideoClub.

A partnership between Sapo and Produções Fictícias producer was established in June 2009, starting as an adventure, later to become a consolidated project, said Abílio Martins, Board Member, PT. Humourous contents have become particularly relevant throughout this period, broadcast via Internet and mobile phone. Nuno Artur Silva, head of Produções Fictícias, used to talk then about “permanence and continuity” to characterise this partnership. He talks nowadays about contents that go beyond humour and that reach television exclusively through Meo.
