The Information Society will continue to be one of PT’s main priorities. The generalization of information and communication technologies use as well as the growing offer of broadband solutions and services, and the programs of support for the community and groups of citizens with special needs, are examples of PT’s involvement in the construction of the Knowledge Society.

The building of a more digitized society is from our viewpoint the guarantee of better access to information and consequently to knowledge – indispensable condition to progress and to the promotion of a more responsible citizenship.

In 2010, PT’s initiatives to promote the information society amounted to Euro 63, 218 millions. Adding 2009’s investment, it sums a total of € 250 millions.
