The champion of the national MEO Surf league 2017 willl be invited to compete in MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, the tenth stage of the World Surf League surfing circuit. The decision to award this wildcard comes from MEO, sponsor of MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal and the MEO Surf League, and will give the winner the opportunity to compete with the best surfers in the world at Praia de Supertubos (Peniche), between 20th and 31st of October.
We will find out who the winner of the MEO Surf League wildcard is between September 14th and 16th in Cascais at Boa Petisco Cascais Pro, the last leg of the MEO Surf league 2017. Vasco Ribeiro, Pedro Henrique, Tiago Pires and Miguel Blanco are the surfers in with a chance in the dispute for the conquest of the national title.
Through this wildcard award by MEO, two Portuguese representatives will be guaranteed in this top international surfing championship that comes to our country. Frederico Morais, backed by MEO and former national champion and current Top 14 in the world ranking, welcomes another compatriot in the fight to win MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal.
The MEO wildcard connects the two main sponsored surfing events (MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal and MEO Surf League) and is part of the national surf planning and support strategy, in which Altice/PT has a long tradition of boosting events, providing fiber technology that enables live streaming transmission with high quality.
