Altice Portugal also leads in terms of human resources allocated to innovation, with an annual effort of more than 700 people dedicated exclusively to R&D and Innovation.
The figures are from the General Directorate of Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC), which annually gives a picture of the main statistical results in human and financial resources related to Research and Development (R&D) activities, which includes the ranking of "Companies with the Most Expenses in R&D Activities in Portugal".
In fact, this is not the first time that Altice Portugal has come first, with the second largest investor investing only half the value obtained by Altice (http://www.dgeec.mec.pt/np4/206/) . In fact, since entering Portugal, the Group has not only maintained its position, but has also reinforced that investment.
In 2015, it was the leader with an investment of around 53 million Euros, the next year it increased to almost 70 million and in 2017 it stood at 86 million Euros.
For Altice Portugal's Executive President Alexandre Fonseca, "this is another reason to be proud of Altice Portugal, as we are recognized publicly and by a fitting entity, the investment we make in the development and research of truly innovative products . On the other hand, it is once again clear that Altice Portugal is consistent in its activity in terms of what its public objectives are: innovation, investment and proximity are key drivers of our activity. In fact, the Altice Group has them in its DNA and in its history as an innovative brand, with visible and concrete results. And this study shows how important this position is for our country's economy and technological development, as companies accounted for half of the national R&D expenditure, followed by the Higher Education sector. Altice Portugal has also greatly stimulated innovation in the sphere of academia, establishing partnerships with Universities and Polytechnics by installing, in many of these structures, collaborative laboratories, namely Altice Labs."
Altice Labs, in Aveiro, is a good example of Altice Portugal's investment, already a reference in the global market, with products and solutions in four continents, bringing innovation made in Portugal worldwide, in 35 countries and touching more than 250 million people.
From Aveiro, we have research, development and innovation and export of state-of-the-art technology, continuously developing collaborative research projects, supported by excellent human resources that have earned the best opinions of partners and customers. There are over 700 highly qualified professionals who research and develop advanced Telecommunication and Information Systems solutions. At this moment, Altice Portugal is carrying out a decentralization movement beyond the presence in Aveiro, taking these laboratories to Viseu, Ribeira Brava, the Autonomous Region of Madeira, and the Algarve.
Remember that Altice Labs was recognized as the Best Company of the Year 2018 and the Best Company in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Market, within the scope of the 29th edition of the 500 Biggest and Best Companies, an initiative by Exame, Informa D&B and Deloitte.
