After three successful editions, PT Empresas, the Altice Portugal brand for the business segment, brings back the IoT Challenge to once again launch an ambitious challenge to companies and startups working in the area of the Internet of Things. In this fourth edition, candidates will need to present a solution that addresses location, retail, or health cases.
Until the closing of the applications, on June 21st, startups and companies will be able to register on the PT Empresas website, but will have to wait for June 24th to know if they are one of the 15 teams selected for this edition of the IoT Challenge. After selecting the teams and the kick off event, the selected teams will have the opportunity to use the facilities of the ENTER program for a month, as well as to visit the laboratory Golabs.IoT, where they can test the solutions developed with the support of PT Empresas professionals.
The challenge is simple: to present a ready-to-market IoT solution that uses IoT services from PT Empresas and responds to one of the following challenges: applying the IoT location to logistic, security or other contexts; create a solution with applicability in the retail area, for example, to control stock or to monetize the spaces of a warehouse; or, finally, to design a solution in the area of health, that allows remote monitoring of clinical parameters, among other possibilities.
During the event, participating teams will be able to use IoT services from PT Empresas to complete their solutions, namely the SIM cards with 2G/3G/4G/NB-IoT technology of the IoT Connect service (mandatory use) or the Internet platform of Things IoT Place (optional use) that allows you to connect IoT equipment quickly, store the information collected in the Altice Portugal data center in Covilhã securely and build a portal/APP to view the collected information or send it by API to other systems.
The winners will be announced on September 16th, after presenting and demonstrating their solutions at the event that will take place in Lisbon on the same date and with the presence of several personalities and reference companies in the filed. The presentations will be evaluated by a jury and the PT Empresas clients present.
To reward the winning teams, Beta Passes will be awarded for the 2019 Web Summit and their solutions will be integrated into PT Empresas's portfolio of products and services. Likewise, the solutions will be exhibited in the Showroom of Altice Portugal and promoted to its customers. PT Empresas will also offer the winners 6 monthly payments of the IoT services of PT Empresas, used during the IoT Challenge. Nevertheless, all participants will receive a 20% discount on the monthly fee for the same services and exemption from the activation fees.
