It is on two wheels that MEO, a brand in the Altice Portugal consumer segment, gives its name to the last stage of the world motorcycle championship. Between 20th and 22nd November, the MEO Portuguese Grand Prix is back in our country for the final race, at the Algarve International Auto drome.
With the MEO Portuguese Grand Prix in the Algarve, Portugal is once again positioned on the world map of motorcycling, a feat that contributes to elevating Portugal even further, to the dissemination of our culture and to the promotion of the Portuguese language since this is the maximum exponent of ‘Portugality’.
The continuous focus on national sport, now with the strengthening of support for motor sport, combines three fundamental vectors for the MEO brand: proximity to the Portuguese people; sport as a means of boosting society and essential in the education and training of young people; and technology, which is at the core of Altice Portugal and its brands.
Also, in this event, MEO is doubly represented through the participation of Moto GP ™ rider Miguel Oliveira. As a MEO ambassador, he embodies the values that represent the brand and the commitment to motorsport, as well as representing Portugal by taking the national flag to every corner of the world.
For Alexandre Fonseca, Executive President of Altice Portugal, “it is with great honor that MEO becomes the flagship of the top motorcycle race in Portugal. This new commitment reinforces our position on the international motorsport scene and allows us to hold the Portuguese flag high. If we already have so many reasons to celebrate Portugal, this is one more reason to be proud to be Portuguese! ».
Pau Serracanta, Managing Director of Dorna Sports, says that “I am very happy that, at this exceptional time we have been living through, we have the opportunity to hold a Grand Prix in Portugal, with the support of MEO. At DORNA we are especially excited because the first Portuguese rider to win a Grand Prix in the premier category of motorcycling, will participate, racing at home. »
The MEO Portuguese Grand Prix is the result of a partnership between MEO, a brand in the consumer segment of Altice Portugal, and Dorna Sports, the entity that holds the exclusive commercial and television rights for the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (Moto GP ™).
By being the naming sponsor of this event, Altice Portugal's brands reinforce their strategy of supporting major events and happenings in different areas of Portuguese society with the biggest Portuguese arenas - Altice Arena and Altice Forum Braga -, the biggest summer festivals in Portugal - MEO Sudoeste, MEO Marés Vivas, MEO Monte Verde and MEO Sons do Mar - and also the biggest international events on national soil such as MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, MEO Portugal of Surfing, MOCHE XL Esports, Planetiers and the Web Summit.
